We are located on the North Coast of Ireland, about 2 hours from Belfast and 45 minutes north of L'Derry. Both trains and busses service the area surrounding the Downhill Hostel, making travel planning easy and convenient for our guests. Clicking this map will take you to an interactive map provided by MapQuest. Click 'Back' in your browser to return to this page.

If your travel plans have you coming from the East (Belfast Side) then you will follow the signs to Coleraine, then turn onto the A2, with signs to Castlerock. As you near Castlerock you will notice the signs change to include Downhill destinations. The hostel will be on your right as you come to the ocean front. As your plans would bring you to the Downhill Hostel from the South, or the Republic of Ireland (through L'Derry) you will follow the signs towards Limavady. After Ballykelly as you approach Limavady there will be a set of traffic lights at a staggered crossroads. Take the left on the B69 towards Downhill. This road will link back into the A2, where you should take a left and continue about 10km.

There is now a ferry that now runs between Greencastle on the Inishowen Peninsula and Magilligan Point at the Western End of the Benone Strand. This ferry is the most direct way to access the Downhill Hostel if you are coming from the peninsula, as it alleviates the former need to drive down through L'Derry and back up. As you are driving away from the ferry on the Magilligan side, turn Left at the A2, following the signs for the Benone Strand and Downhill. We are approximately 8km from that junction on your left. Clicking on this map will also open a Mapquest interactive map.

Several tourist sites are within easy access of the Downhill Hostel. Our front garden borders the 10km Benone sand beach stretching away to the West, and the Binevenagh heights tower to our SouthWest. The Old Downhill House ruins along with the Mussenden Temple and Black Glenn Gardens, all maintained by the National Trust, are atop the cliff that borders the back of the Downhill Hostel property. The Giant's Causeway, Dunluce Castle, Wishing Arch, and Bushmills Distillery are all within 30 minutes to our East, putting the Downhill Hostel in a very central location.
